Dr Nancy Peters

Hi, I’m Nancy, an obstetrician, gynaecologist and advanced laparoscopic gynaecologic surgeon based in the Sutherland Shire, Sydney at Sutherland Hospital and Kareena Private Hospital. I focus on providing all my patients with holistic, integrated care which empowers women and improves their health across all stages of life.

TRAINING

My training allows me to draw on the latest research and surgical techniques to provide comprehensive, evidence-based care for patients. I completed my Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degrees at the University of Adelaide and specialist obstetric and gynaecological training (FRANZCOG) at St George and Sutherland Hospitals and the Royal Hospital for Women. My passion for providing women with the highest standard of surgery and managing complex women’s health issues led me to undertake an additional two year fellowship in advanced laparoscopic and robotic gynaecological surgery accredited by AGES (Australian Gynaecological Endoscopy and Surgery Society).

I work collaboratively with patients to explore medical (non-surgical) and minimally invasive surgical options, respecting each patient’s unique history and individual needs.

I am a strong advocate for women’s health. I completed a Master of Health Leadership and Management to drive change and strive for improvements to our health system. I’m actively involved in medical student teaching and education and mentoring of resident doctors. As a RANZCOG and AGES member I have presented nationally and internationally on endometriosis and adenomyosis.

I provide comprehensive, specialised care including for pregnancies with additional medical conditions and twin pregnancy.

Treatments

There are a range of treatment options. If surgery is required a minimally invasive (key hole) approach will be used where appropriate. 

  • Laparoscopic myomectomy

    • Surgery to remove fibroids without removing the uterus

  • Hysteroscopic surgery

    • To investigate bleeding and remove polyps and fibroids

  • Cervical surgery

    • Surgery to treat pre-cancerous changes of the cervix

    • Large loop excision of the transformation zone (LLETZ)

    • Cone biopsy

Anaria is a very short walk from both Kareena Private and Sutherland Hospitals, which is where our patients are admitted. For your convenience, we offer onsite underground parking with internal lift access.
